Sunday Morning Sleep In

We have just arrived back from our amazing holiday in Tahiti and the house is in total chaos. The lounge and bedroom are strewn with cases, sarongs, flippers, wet bathers, shell necklaces, duty free and piles of washing. I need a lovely long lie in in the morning to recover from a hard day's traveling and I am looking forward to a good strong cup of coffee and breakfast in bed! Thank-you so much everyone for your holiday well wishes and lovely comments in my absence. It was a real treat coming back to a pile of cheery emails. I am hoping to  get a chance to go through the holiday snaps and post a few from the trip late tomorrow... so stay tuned. Now it's time for me to crawl into bed and get a good night's sleep!

 

Fairfground Attractions

We are in the middle of the Easter school holidays and the kids are going a bit stir crazy after too much DS, Playstation, Ninetendo and TV so it's time to get them out and about for some good old fashioned fun! So we are heading off to a country Easter Fair to try our luck at the shooting gallery, the clowns with the ping pong balls and the basket ball hoops. We'll probably take a ride on the dodgem cars, the ferris wheel and indulge in some fairy floss. Oh, and I also love those hot dogs covered in batter and deep fried - even though I know they each contain a week's worth of calories!

Butterfly Dreaming

These last few days my garden has been a mass of the prettiest tiny white butterflies dancing all over the flowers. It was a very romantic vision until someone told me they are in fact cabbage moths and will strip my garden bare if I'm not careful! With this influx of pesky little moths I have also seen lots of the beautiful Monarch butterflies on my daily beach walk. To see seven or eight on these beautiful  orange, yellow and black winged creatures sitting on a single branch is a heavenly sight. I fancy myself in a long floaty dress skipping around with a butterfly net catching these pretty things but somehow I doubt if I'll find the time!
 

Let The Sun Shine

I am looking forward to a carefree, relaxed weekend - getting out and making the most of the long days before Daylight Savings ends on Sunday. I am planning on spending the weekend barefoot on the beach, a game of beach cricket might be in order or perhaps a horse ride along the beach . But then again, I might just be feeling too lazy to do anything too energetic so I'll just lie in the sun and soak up a few rays. The rest of my time will be spent drinking chilled chardonnay with some friends on our sun drenched deck thinking about what to throw on the barbeque. I might whip up a few tasty morsels like some barbeque spare ribs finishing off with grilled summer fruits and ice-cream.  

 

Lazy Sunday Afternoon

After a crazy week at work I have been dreaming of some well deserved 'Me Time'. Just a couple of hours on Sunday afternoon where I can sit quietly under a big shady tree on my lawn enjoying the filtered sunlight whilst sipping a cup of tea. I'll flick through the Sunday Papers, read a chapter or two of my neglected novel and catch up on the latest Vogue and Elle Decoration. Hopefully the kids, dogs, my lovely husband  and neighbor's lawn mower will leave me alone in peace just long enough for me to re-gain my sanity!    

A Country Picnic

After a few days of wet, rainy weather I am looking forward to the promise of perfect weather over the weekend. I am making a list of all the lovely things I could do to take advantage of this fine weather after being cooped up indoors for a couple of days. I am thinking about a game of tennis, as last time I played I was sadly in need of some practice, a long walk on the beach and a picnic. I'll make an early start in the kitchen on Saturday morning and whip a batch of muffins for morning tea and I'll bake a quiche for lunch. We'll head off to the country for a drive, a rambling walk and a well deserved lunch in a grassy picnic spot. Can't wait!

Lazy Daze

Some days it's just nice to not do anything. I love nothing more than relaxing at home with cups of tea in bed, piles of good mags, fresh flowers in the house and the sun streaming in through the windows. These are my simple luxuries in life - a weekend without chores and plenty of 'me' time. The phrase 'staycation' was coined after the GFC hit when everyone was looking at more affordable holiday options. Even Vogue dedicated a whole article on the pleasures of staying at home. The most energetic I get on a 'staycation' is going for a stroll along the river or the beach. If I am being very adventurous then I may even have lunch on the deck of our local cafe that sits overlooking the water. They do the best pan fried calamari this side of the coast!

Summer Days

Summer is all about the beach to me - long walks along the sand collecting shells, worn pebbles and driftwood along the way. White weather board cottages and simple beach shacks. Simple summer cotton dresses that blow in the breeze, floppy straw hats and worn beach baskets. A canvas hammock strung up on the porch promises endless hours of being lost in a good book, kids with ice-creams and the ringing of laughter in the air all remind me of lazy summer days.
