Amputee soldiers share their amazing story of climbing Kilimanjaro for charity.
On Thursday 22nd October, a group of four brave soldiers defied terrible injuries to attempt an extraordinary challenge - to conquer the highest mountain in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro, with an aim of raising £100,000 for charity Help for Heroes.
The soldiers, two of whom were injured in duty and one off duty, call themselves the Band of Four and describe themselves as "two shot, one not, and one legless”.
The Band of Four are John Sandford-Hart, 43, a former soldier who served in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers in the Territorial Army and Lance Corporal Johnathon Le Galloudec, 28, Corporal Tony Burbidge, 27, and Stewart Le Couilliard, 38, who all served together in the 4th Rifles.
John lost his leg in a power boat accident and is the first person to ever climb the mountain on crutches.
Jonathon was paralysed after being ambushed on patrol in Basra, and shot in the spine by a sniper in June 2007. He was told that he would never walk again but has battled to make a partial recovery.
Tony as a section commander was carrying out a routine search in Basra in June 2006 when he was shot in the arm. A main artery and nerves were damaged.
Stewart has served 15 years in the army and has never been shot, but he has been affected by friends and colleagues being injured while serving.

The group say they wanted to do something spectacular to honour fellow comrades who have been wounded or lost their lives in the current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The Band of Four have set themselves a new challenge for 2010 - to become the first less able group to row around the UK! It took 27 days for a group of four abled bodied guys to do it in 2005.
