Bora Bora Holiday Snaps

I've finally managed to work my way through the washing and ironing, so my feet are firmly back on the ground! Thank God for photos otherwise the holiday would just be a distant memory. I've just been through most of the photos and they are all fantastic - Bora Bora is one of those places that you can shut you eyes point the camera in any direction and you'll take a stunning photo. It really is heaven on earth and the most beautiful place I have ever been to. It's the incredible colour of the water that makes it so magical. I had very high expectations for this holiday so for everything to have lived up to my dreams is a miracle. It's a bit of a hike to get there and it's expensive but it's worth every penny!

Chilling Out!

The temperature is perfect, the water is like a warm bath, the resorts are out of this world, the food is delicious and the Tahitians are warm and friendly. Even the light is soft and flattering - it makes you browner, slimmer and younger - how's that for a perfect place!

Bora Bora Vacation

A dream has come true for me with this trip to Bora Bora. I have wanted to go and soak up the Tahitian sun ever since I've had the bug for adventure, traveling and five star luxury! I have always wanted to stay in an overwater bungalow, swimming and snorkelling off the back deck. I am keen photographer, so going to a place with so much natural beauty and such amazing coloured water has been on my bucket list for a long time. I have also heard lovely things about the beautiful Tahitian people with their warm personalities and big smiles. When I return I will post some of my own photos but in the interim, these images capture the magical colours of Tahiti.

Bon Voyage

Well I'm off to Bora Bora today and I must admit I am very, very excited. My bags are packed and overflowing. Work and clients are all organised for my twelve day absence. I have had a host of hair and beauty appointments to get me ready for holiday mode - spray tan, hair, nails, facial, the works! The older I get the more appointments I need and the more expensive it gets but I can relax now - I have a light tan with glossy hair and perfect nails. It won't last long but at least I can arrive in style! Whilst I'm away I have scheduled some posts so check in from time to time and I look forward to your comments on my return . In the meantime, Tahiti ...here I come!

Out of Africa

I just watched 'Out of Africa' for the uptienth time but it still never fails to make me cry. The movie had such a strong impact on me in my younger days that I ended up spending twelve weeks traveling throughout Africa on a truck safari starting off at Karen Blixon's house in Kenya. It wasn't one of my most glamorous holidays but it was certainly one of the most adventurous and definitely one of the most memorable. Now that I am older, wiser and a little better off financially if I ever revisited Africa I would travel in a little more style. These days, I am thinking this Louis Vuitton shoot is more my cup of tea! Luxury tents, beautiful LV vintage trunks, private tour guides and dining out under the stars with a table set with crystal, linen and silver. How luxurious - where do I sign up?! 

   

Postcards from Venice

Having recently seen the film 'The Tourist' I feel inspired to go back to Venice and pay it another visit. It's such a romantic city - one of great beauty and amazing architecture. It's a city that lives up to it's picture postcard reputation. I have done all the touristy things like taken a Gondola ride on the canal, drank coffee in the Piazza San Marco, visited a Murano glass factory and taking a speed boat on the Grand Canal but there are two reasons why I need to go back. One is I never made it to 'Harry's Bar', a European institution, famous the world over. Its' elite clientele ranges from the famous to the infamous and includes not just socialites, models and rockstars but politicians and world leaders. Charlie Chaplin, Ernest Hemingway, Orson Welles and Truman Capote have all walked through it's doors. The other reason is I would like to visit during the 'Carnivale de Venise'. I think that would be a magical and enchanting experience.

Escape to Paradise

I am very excited ...today I booked a 12 day vacation to Bora Bora, Tahiti. This has been a dream destination for as long as I can remember so it really is going to be a once in a lifetime holiday. I started collecting brochures and making enquiries with travel agents five years so I can hardly believe I am actually going. The best thing about waiting so long is that the pricing has dropped substantially so we can now afford 4 nights in a overwater bungalow and 4 nights in a beach bungalow. With the rest of the time being  spent in transit and Papeete. I am so looking forward to the amazing scenery, perfect weather, luxury accommodation, warm water and the French Polynesian cuisine. As we are going in May, I now have a 12 week count down to get myself into shape so I look Gisele below (although I fear that will take a little longer than that). I also have to start shopping for  my tropical resort wardrobe for the trip before all the summer fashion disappears from the shops. I think half the fun of a trip is in the planning!

Greek Style

The mercury hit a perfect 28 degrees today so my husband and I took a drive down to Lorne, a stylish coastal town with a very good Greek restaurant that sits overlooking the pier. It is painted in typical Greek style with lots of white wash and bright blue trim. It is all a bit rusty and run down but that just adds to the character. We had lunch at an outdoor table under a sun umbrella watching the fishing boats bob up and down.

We ordered this amazing seafood platter which was absolutely overflowing with King prawns, oysters, lobster, scampi, mussels and scallops. Everything is freshly caught and it all tasted even better when washed down with a glass of chilled, white wine. After a glass or two, I could have sworn I was on a Greek Island!  

Inspiration from the Greek Islands
