British Formula One ace Lewis Hamilton and his pop star girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger have split up so that they can "focus on their careers".
The McLaren driver dated the Pussycat Dolls singer for 20 months, during which time she was regularly seen in the paddock at his races.
Hamilton, who won the 2008 World Championship, even took Scherzinger for a spin round his home town Stevenage soon after winning the title.
However, the long distance nature of their romance proved difficult, with Hamilton based in Switzerland and Scherzinger in Los Angeles.
A statement for the couple confirmed: "They have decided to go their separate ways.
"They want to focus fully on their careers and will remain close friends."
Hamilton, 25, first met 31-year-old Scherzinger at the MTV Europe Music Awards in November 2007, and the pair started dating the following May.
