Among the fears of child trafficking and exploitation, there was joy this week as some orphans who had already been cleared for adoption before the earthquake struck met their new families for the first time.
From Denver to Pittsburgh, from Orlando to Ottawa, the families met their 'new' children after the authorities slashed red tape to speed up adoptions that were already under way before the earthquake 13 days ago.
The American and Canadian families had waited years for this moment and, despite the tragic circumstances, nothing could stop the smiles, hugs and kisses.
