In an image that would make even Lady Gaga wince, a new platform shoe is being released next year which has a whopping 9 inch heel.
The Sky Heel will be the tallest shoe available to regular customers and is so high that few footwear manufacturers, until now, would dare to make them.
Thanks to the Poker Face singer and celebrities like Victoria Beckham who never leaves home without an at least 5 inch stiletto, shoe lovers have started to demand more monstrous heels.
The Spice Girl turned fashion designer says she supports Lady Gaga when it comes to her fashion sense.
'I have a lot of respect that she can walk in those shoes going through airports, I think she's really doing her thing. I mean, people think I dress up to go to an airport!'
A-list designers like Christian Louboutin and Yves Saint Laurent have long favoured the super-stiletto and their expensive creations are firm favourite with actresses, supermodels and fashionistas.
Stores have been quick to adopt the skyscraper heel trend with many selling six-inch designs while several Kurt Geiger styles reach five.
But at nine inches, the Sky Heel towers over its competitors by a whopping three inches.
Researchers say that a fifth of females have gone to such extreme lengths to wear trendy shoes that they have ended up twisting their ankle or tearing a tendon.
And a third have fallen flat on their face as a result of their heels, with many damaging their teeth and breaking their wrists.
The poll of 3,000 women, found other injuries sustained in the name of fashion include broken ankles and twisted knees.
But six in ten said they would grimace and continue to wear a pair of uncomfortable shoes if they were complimented on their footwear on a night out.
