Monju Begum claims she cut off her neighbour's penis because he tried to attack her. Surgeons were unable to reattach it
A woman cut off a man's penis as he allegedly attempted to rape her and took it to a police station as evidence against him.
Monju Begum, 40, attacked the man in Bangladesh after he burst into her shack and reportedly launched his sex attack.
The victim then wrapped up the penis in polythene before handing it over to officers, police said
Mozammel Haq Mazi was taken to hospital where he is being treated - but is denying attempted rape.
He claims he was having an affair with the mother-of-three and she attacked him because he refused to settle down with her.
Monju Begum, from Mirzapur, which is around 100 miles from Dhaka, had apparently been sleeping when the man burst into her home.
Police chief Abul Khaer told reporters: 'As he tried to rape her, the lady cut his manhood off with a knife.
'She then wrapped up the penis in a piece of polythene and brought it to the Jhalakathi police station as evidence of the crime.'
The married father-of-five is expected to be arrested once he has recovered
Officer Khaer added: 'We shall arrest him once his condition gets better.'
Speaking from hospital, Mr Mazi told the BBC he had been having an affair with the woman, who was his neighbour.
'We were having an affair and recently she suggested that both of us can go and settle down in Dhaka,' he said.
'I refused and told her that I cannot leave my wife and children, so she took revenge on me.'
Surgeons later tried to reattach the penis but they were unable to do so because several hours had passed before it was taken to the hospital

Shock results Mobile phones can increase risk of brain cancer.
Mobile phone users may be putting themselves at higher risk of cancer, a major new study has confirmed.
The World Health Organisation-funded study has found that microwave radiation from mobile phones can increase the risk of brain tumours.
The agency has now listed mobile phones as a 'carcinogenic hazard', alongside lead, engine exhaust fumes and chloroform.
Before its announcement today, the WHO had assured people that no ill-effects had been established.
A team of 31 scientists from 14 countries made the decision after reviewing peer-reviewed studies on mobile phone safety.
The team found evidence that personal exposure was 'possibly carcinogenic to humans.'
This means that there is not enough long-term evidence to conclude if radiation from mobile phones is safe, but there is enough data to show a possible connection to tumours.
Mobile phones emit a kind of radiation known as non-ionising. It has been compared to a very low-powered microwave oven
In the past 20 years the British public has shown a massive appetite for mobile telephony, with an estimated 76million in use among a population of 62million.
Dr Keith Black, chairman of neurology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles, told CNN; 'The biggest problem we have is that we know most environmental factors take several decades of exposure before we really see the consequences'
'What microwave radiation does in most simplistic terms is similar to what happens to food in microwaves, essentially cooking the brain.
'So in addition to leading to a development of cancer and tumors, there could be a whole host of other effects like cognitive memory function, since the memory temporal lobes are where we hold our cell phones.'
Bath Time
I have had a busy, stressful day today - lots of dead lines, lots of running around and the phone has been ringing non-stop. The perfect remedy for days like today is a long, hot soak in a bath tub. Fill the bath almost to the brim with hot, hot water and lots of bubbles, add your favourite bath salts, light a scented candle then lie back and relax. Watch your troubles disappear with the dissipating bubbles!

Autumn Baking
Well it was a cold old, wet and windy weekend - leaving us with nothing much to do apart from rugging up and staying indoors. The fire roared away all weekend so I thought I would make the most of the wintery weather and do some cooking. One of the kids is in the middle of exams and the other is learning the guitar off his very talented dad. So with the two of them strumming away I set about baking a chocolate cake for afternoon tea and a apple pie for dessert. With the lovely aroma from the oven, the warmth of the fire and good food to look forward to I think everyone was very contented!
My Dream Holiday in Bora Bora
The great thing about a tropical vacation is that you get to truly relax and unwind. It took us very little time to get into holiday mode and leave behind the daily grind and thoughts of work, clients, bills and household chores. A massage at the day spa did wonders, the luxury rooms with the complimentary french champagne helped and the Pina Colada at the Pool Bar had me so relaxed I could hardly remember my name let alone any of my worries! Okay I am exaggerating a little but warm weather, beautiful surroundings and quality time together really does wonders for the soul! It doesn't have to be Bora Bora but it's just great to get away and break the routine and remind yourself that there's more to life than work!

Scandinavian Kitchen Style
I am a late bloomer and only really found out what blogging was all about six months ago. When I started to check out a few design blogs I came across a lot of very talented Scandinavian blogs. I fell in love with their very simple, clean design lines and their very defined colour palette of white on white with highlights in grey, beige and taupe. When they use colour it is restrained and muted. Their preferred fabrics are natural and textured - namely wool, cotton and linen with lots of white painted timber. A little bit 'Shabby Chic' in style but with a modern twist. Here are a few images from a couple of great blogs that personify Scandavian style - 'Modern Country' and 'Min Lilla Veranda'. Great images it's just a shame I can't read their blogs!
