But today it was finally confirmed that pregnant Carla Bruni is pregnant - and that her first child with husband Nicolas Sarkozy will be a boy.
The French President's close friend Jacques Seguela - the matchmaker who introduced the couple in 2007 - revealed the sex of the child in an interview with a Belgian newspaper.
'I have it on good authority that the baby will a boy,' he told Le Soir.
The child will be the couple's fifth son between them.
Sarkozy, 55, has two sons, Pierre, 25, and Jean, 23, from his first marriage to Marie-Dominique Culioli, who he divorced in 1996.
He has a 13-year-old son Louis from his second marriage to Cecilia Ciganer-Albeniz, who he divorced in 2007.
Bruni - who has had previous relaionships with Mick Jagger and Eric Clapton - has a ten-year-old son Aurelian with philosophy professor Raphael Enthoven
