They are both wronged wives, betrayed by their footballer husbands.And so Cheryl Cole did not hesitate to offer her support to the long-suffering Coleen Rooney this week.
It has emerged that Mrs Rooney received a text message from the pop star urging her to 'stay strong' after recent revealtions about her husband Wayne's infidelity.
Coleen, 24, simply replied with a string of kisses, according to a source.
'Cheryl's latest text was very short but she made it clear she was thinking of Coleen and understood what she was going through,' the source told The Sun.
'Coleen was really pleased and showed it to a few friends. No one understands better than Cheryl what its like to be in that situation.'
It is understood the text gave Mrs Rooney no advice on what to do, it simply offered her support.
It came as the Rooneys spoke of their 'extremely painful' week and revealed they are desperately trying to mend their marriage following lurid allegations of the footballer's cheating.
In a joint statement, a strong indication that the couple will be reconciled, the Rooneys told of the toll the past few days had taken on them.
